As Detroit garners national acclaim for its comeback story—boasting innovation in tech, public space design, advanced manufacturing, and economic development—it’s clear that the narrative of revival is not matching the lived realities of all Detroiters.
While the city stands on the threshold of transformative leadership—with two Black women contending for the mayor’s seat and Michigan led by a powerful trifecta of female state officials—Detroit also remains the second most stressed-out city in America, where Black women carry disproportionate burdens and remain under-supported in both policy and innovation circles.
"HerDetroit, HerFuture: Grounding Our Vision, Keeping Boots on the Ground" is a timely, soul-forward gathering that reclaims space for Black women to rest, release, and reimagine their future in the midst of systemic change. This special edition of the WELL Woman Talk x Kickback intentionally merges wellness, gender-informed leadership, civic dialogue, and tech-driven innovation—through a Detroit lens.
Through movement, music, and meaningful conversation, the evening will center the voices of Black women tech founders, civic leaders, ecosystem builders, and public servants navigating the tension between the “New Detroit” and the “Real Detroit.”
This isn’t just a conversation. It’s a movement reset. It’s rest, strategy, and sisterhood all in one room.
